Intro Beekeeping Training registration is now open. Each spring the San Francisco Beekeepers Association conducts a pair of classes for new and intermediate beekeepers. These classes are filled with the practical knowledge beekeepers need to keep bees healthy and alive. They are $100 for the pair of classes and you must be a current club member or join to attend. Julia Mahood - It’s All About the Drones!

Drones are the Jan Brady's of the colony: overlooked, underappreciated, and constantly hearing about how great their sisters are. Learn all about the amazing drones and their mysterious drone congregation areas (and how to find them using the other kind of drone) at this informative talk.
Julia Mahood is a Georgia Master Crafts Beekeeper who has been keeping bees since 2004. Julia was awarded the Georgia Beekeeper of the year in 2018. A graphic artist, she designed the Georgia “Save the honey bee” license plate. She is passionate about education and teaches beekeeping in Georgia prisons.

Beeswax Candle Making: Techniques & TipsSt. John Armenian Church, 275 Olympia Way, SF
Learn about the art of creating beautiful, clean-burning beeswax candles in this hands-on presentation focused on working with wax from the hive. We’ll cover the candle-making process, including cleaning and preparing beeswax, selecting molds, matching wick size to candle diameter, ideal temperatures for melting and pouring, and techniques for avoiding common issues like sinking, cracking, and wax bloom. The session will include a live candle-making demonstration with opportunities for audience participation.
